Profile Area Internet and Digitization

The internet of the future and digital technologies will facilitate novel ways communicating, collaborating and optimising processes. Intelligent networks provide fast and reliable communication channels. Meshed up with traditional infrastructure (energy, traffic, etc.), new kinds of services, production processes and work processes are evolving based on digitisation. 

Industry in particular is affected by the disruptive potential of the internet and digitisation. For example, established value chains may be replaced by new, more efficient digital processes almost overnight (Industry 4.0). Digitisation is influencing both society and industry fundamentally. Life and work are changing in line with an existing parallel virtual reality. Transformation turns into the new routine, which is understood and created by scientists. To utilize this as an innovation driver, new technologies and applications need to be smart, high-performance and efficient.
